Every football season, Kolade and his friends create a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) league, and banter about football, but now that his friends are scattered around the country, he is using this Paid WhatsApp group built around FPL to keep in touch with all his friends. This week’s #spotlight is on Kolade’s friendship circle.
Hi Kolade, please tell me more about you and the community you are building on Groupify.
There’s not much. From playing to watching football matches and analyzing player stats, I have always been interested in football. During this season, FPL makes it a lot more exciting.
That’s lit! How did you get the idea of building a paid FPL community?
So every football season, my friends and I would always create a league on FPL and since we were always together, we constantly exchanged banter about player selections, football strategies, and, of course, celebrated our weekly FPL successes.
Now, it’s a bit different, my friends are now scattered all over the country but guess one thing that still ensures that we stay connected and keep our banters alive during this period…
Your community?
Exactly!!! It’s not as ecstatic as it used to be when we are together physically but I’ll take this.
So how does this community work?
It’s quite simple. Every week my friends and I pay #500 to remain in the group and at the end of the week, the person with the highest points on FPL at the end of football week gets the bounty! So it’s like betting but then, your money remains in the house. The money is just a way to encourage participation.

That sounds fantastic. How did you find out about Groupify and what inspired you to use it?
As usual, my friends and I created a league on FPL but this time, I suggested that we create a group on WhatsApp dedicated to our FPL banter and even contribute weekly to give the person with the highest point and they told me to run it.
I didn’t want to deal with the stress of having to reach out to everyone weekly so another friend mentioned that they knew someone who worked with Groupify. I reached out to her and she helped me set it up.
So far, are you enjoying it?
Yes, we are. Groupify is doing exactly what we need it to do for us. It’s been about a week of using it and I am hoping that this group will grow and more people who are friends of my friends can join too. When this happens, it won’t be overwhelming for me because Groupify can easily remove the people who default.
What do you like about Groupify?
Two things for me, the emails I get when someone pays, I could get used to that, lol. And the dashboard when I log into my account, it’s just *chef’s kiss*.
